Religion: Hindu (Shiva)
Ruler/Patron: Yasovarman I
Style: Bakheng
Phnom Bakheng was developed over two centuries before the Angkor Wat. It is a Hindu sanctuary initially worked as a sanctuary mountain committed to Shiva. History specialists trust that Phnom Bakheng was in its prime, the chief sanctuary of the Angkor locale. It was the building centerpiece of another capital that Yasovarman manufactured when he moved the court from the capital Hariharalaya in the Roluos region situated toward the southeast.
Situated on a slope, this is the most prominent traveler spot for nightfall perspectives of the much greater Angkor Wat sanctuary which lies in the midst of the wilderness around 1.5 km away.
